R L Foote Design Gallery are happy to present an exciting exhibition of new artworks by Ralf Kempken. Magnificent Melbourne shows the diversity of Kempken’s art practice from cutting and spraying multi layered complex stencils to his refined hand cut canvas & paper artwork which he calls ‘screens’ where the image is created from the negative space.

The ‘stencil’ artwork focuses on the images of Melbourne and features Melbourne’s iconic street scenes, the stencil is used to spray images in countless variations, making each painting unique. The amazing ‘screen’ artwork makes the viewer question what they are perceiving within the artwork, needing our sub-conscience to fill in what our brain is interpreting within the artwork.
