R L Foote Design Studio is excited to offer a range of ceramic workshops and courses from slipcasting to hand-building ceramic sculpture.
You may have heard of Pottery classes; which are on a potter’s wheel; Slipcasting is a method of making ceramics with a liquid clay body, which is poured into a plaster mould and allows for more interesting and complex shapes.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our serene and inspiring workspace; here, you will be supported and encouraged to explore your creativity in new ways with like-minded people.
Ceramic Course:
6-week Slipcasting Course
Learning to slipcast your own ceramics! This course is designed to teach you everything you need to know to start slipcasting ceramic pieces. Make your own cups, plates and vases while learning a multitude of techniques surrounding slipcast ceramics.

Ceramic Class:
2.5-hour Slipcasting Workshop
Ideal for beginners wanting to try their hand at ceramics for the first time or if you have done pottery and keen to try slipcasting.
classes run for 2.5 hours, 1.30pm Saturdays

Group Ceramic Classes
Do you have a group of friends, family, colleagues or clients who you’d like to invite to experience a unique and fun event?
We can accommodate groups from 6 to 24 people for a customised ceramic class in our light and airy creative workshop.

We can also help you to organise food and beverage catering in our private dining space whether it be an evening event with bubbles or a Saturday afternoon tea.

NEW Ceramic Course:
6-week Handbuilding Course
Learning to handbuild your own ceramic pots, sculptures or other forms. In this introduction to handbuilding, you will learn the basics of working with clay: learn how to join, sculpt, hollow, coil, glaze and fire. You will gain an understanding of all the steps from start to finish.

Ceramic Masterclass:
1-Day Mould-Making Class
Learn how to make your own plaster moulds for slipcasting ceramics. Taught by Ryan Foote, you will learn all the do’s and don’ts, build your own basic mould and learn about the tips and tricks surrounding multiple-piece moulds and how to prepare them.

Ceramic Class:
Glaze-Making Workshop
Ideal for people who want to start making their own glazes but aren’t quite ready to commit to the expanded glaze-making course. Learn tips and tricks from years of experience.

Glaze Course:
6-week Glaze-Making Course
R L Foote Design Studio makes all our own glazes in-house for our ceramic production and we are now opening up our Glaze Lab for in-person masterclasses.
If you have ever wanted to make your own glazes and understand the science behind what happens in the kiln, this is the course for you.

Price includes all materials and equipment required. Additional firings, clay and glaze are available at a cost.
Free onsite parking available. Clifton Hill train station is a five to ten minute walk from the studio.
Please wear closed-toe footwear and comfortable clothing that you are happy to get dirty in!
By booking a place in the Slipcasting Afternoon Workshop, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.
Ceramic pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up 1-2 weeks after your workshop.
